Thanks for the update, I wondered what was going on. Why can't the hosting provider just blacklist all the bots?
Hi all,
thinBasic hosting provider suspended thinBasic account (web site and forum) for few days due to heavy bots traffic coming from some proxy systems.
That's not a big problem till number of requested pages and time spent on the site remain under certain limits.
Now some bots exceeding those limits are blocked
But, because thinBasic is under a shared hosting plan, sooner or later other bots will scan thinBasic web site and forum overcoming the limits.
Ciao
Eros

On a shared plan, automatic account deactivation takes place when traffic is too high. They have other customers to preserve on the same hardware.
They wrote to me explaining what was going on but it was during the week-end so it took some time.
