Graphic artists, what can you actually provide?

    Hi folks,

please post what you will be able to provide for the game? Also post which software you are planning to use.

    We need 3D models for

    - glider models (At least 8 different ones from 4 different styles)
    - track models (tileable)
    - environments Buildings (At least 4 different styles for each city)
    - terrains (4 different ones)
    - Power bickups

We also need 2D graphics for

    - menu backgrounds
    - buttons
    - bitmap fonts
    - logo for the game
    - skyboxes (4 different ones)
    - Base graphics for particles
    - Textures for the models listed above
    - 4 Different City renders

The models have to modeled of course, UV-Mapped and textured. They should be provided as an OBJ file and will be scaled to fit before exported to an M15 file.

For me, I could work on all if someone could take over the project organization and I could concentrate on only that. My tools are

    Photoshop 6
    Ultimate Unwrap3D
    Hexagon
    Blender
    Terragen
    and some more

So please let me know what you actually can provide and if you can work story related out of your imagination or if you need concept drawings.

    Thanks
    Michael

Mike, I will use Blender, Wings3D and Truespace. Photoshop and Terragen.

I say we should assign cities for each artist. They would handle all art and models for that city type.
This way an artist can concentrate and have a uniform look and feel for all aspects of that city.
Even the music for things in that city like race track soundtracks.

If we have time we could even make the game menus in a style of the city, but this could be only if we have time.

What do you think about organizing by means of city?

    Good idea Kent.
It would be great if there still could be some design "connection points" keeping all environments look different, but on other side somehow characteristic for our game. To keep game "style" consistent. I think it is called "art direction", it is usually task for one big brain taking care of it.

Ok, if you guys like th eapproach, lets give it a try.

If we have time we could even make the game menus in a style of the city, but this could be only if we have time
Sorry, you want to create each menu 4 times? And how do you want to decide which style is used?

The menus are only if we have time and would match whichever city the race was in.

Mike, since Frank you and me are the modelers, and their are 4 cities to be designed, I don't mind taking on 2 cities since Frank and You are on so many project committees.

I will let you pick which city you want and Frank too then I will take the other 2.

We don't need anything for Adrastos do we?
Will they be represented by the bad pickups in the race? Like bombs that tumble a racer and set them back a little?

To me it doesn't matter at all which city I'm responsable for. I'm really curious how the styles of us 3 will match together.

Re: Graphic artists, what can you actually provide?

I thought we wanted different looks for each city except maybe Isolde and Ukko and that the city walls would be the only unifying element in the cities. If I am wrong then my recommendation for splitting the work by city is no good.

I think I missed something. Can you explain that more?
