Trespasser - incredible technology from 1997

    Dear friends,

today I revealed one game from 1997 which made ma jaw drop 2 floors down.

I read article ( Fifty 3D milestones in gaming ), I knew all the games which were listed there. Except one - Trespasser.

It is game related to Jurrasic Park movie somehow from 1997 which features:
    • Large full 3D environment with vegetation
    • Real time physics interaction(!)
    • Real time shadows (!)
    • Inverse kinematics (!) based animation of dinosaurs
    • Rag doll physics (!)
    • First person view, but with character body modelled

I must say I was very heavily impressed - game 12 years old which has features of current cutting edge games!
The polycount is low of course, the controls little odd ... but the rest - very impressive technology.

You can try demo for example from here:
    http://download.cnet.com/Trespasser-...-10024401.html

and demo of datadisc (?) as last download here (but requires filePlanet account): http://trescom.org/index.php?page=do...=category&id=3

This is so inspiring! Imagine which hardware you had in 1997... this had to be gigantic programming challenge.

I do have a vague memory of that game, I seem to remember the image with the dinosaur being featured in a PC magazine around the time it was released.

Some games that I think should have been mentioned in that list of 50 would be on the Amiga but I suppose everyone's got their personal favourites.

    Hi Matthew,

    that soccer looked great!
And hired guns were very cool too I think the "square by square" movement is good way to preserve rich graphics while having almost zero work with collisions.
