I have a huge motivation to create a game development tutorial. The tutorial would be a series of articles here on this website and would show you how to create such a game from start to finish.

I could come up with the theme behind it myself but I would love to hear if you are interested in something like this and what kind of genre you would like to see being covered in the tutorial. Creating such a tutorial is a good opportunity to test thinBasic's abilities. And who knows, it can lead into new fucntionalites in thinBasic modules.

So let me hear your suggestions. 2D or 3D? Board game, turn based strategy, shooter, whatever.

Cheers

New forum, new activities. https://www.thinbasic.com/community/entry.php?1-New-forum-new-activities Sat, 06 Nov 2010 20:04:19 GMT Hi folks,

I just saw the new blog feature and said to myself... let's use it. :) I think bringing something new to our small community is always a good way to raise the level of motivation and other stuff. So what are the thinBasic related projects I want to work in the next weeks.

First it is my TBAI module. I promised Petr that I would integrate Catmull Rom into the way you can follow th epath between two waypoints. I have already some code done for it but not that I can see it is showable.

Second, split the sprite functions from TBGL. The hard part on this wioll be creating the help file. I love to work with HelpNDoc but I hope a little bit of copy and paste will do the job. The good thing is that I will be able to use this easily for some tutorials too.

Again I feel the urge to create a game with thinbasic. Airdogs and Astrocrusher were some good examples that thinbasic is great in supporting someones game development. I think the next project will focus on multiplayer implementation. Maybe a little shooter with vehicles or something like this. We will see.

Lately I am working a lot with the Corona SDK and also testing the next language from Blitz Research. The later one has a nice concept of supporting several platforms from BASIC code. Why not envision that someone could code a game in thinBasic and then run a translator that takes thinBasic code and creates code in HTML5 for an example. All possible and this is something I would love working on.

Ok folks, this is the first blog on our new forum. I would like to read your blogs too.

See you then
