Google are releasing a new web browser, you can read more here (http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/fresh-take-on-browser.html).

They've released a 38 page comic where they show you some of the programming decisions they made during the creation of the browser. You can download the comic from Google Books here (http://books.google.com/books?id=8UsqHohwwVYC&printsec=frontcover#PPA21,M1).

You'll also be able to download a BETA version of the browser later on Tuesday.

I'm writing from Chrome too.
Not bad, really not not bad. Light, elegant, spell checker, fast.

Some testing I've done on Chrome.
_________________________________________________

When you open it, 2 chrome.exe process starts. I suppose one is a control process and the other is the first tab browser
At every new tab creation a new chrome.exe process starts.
Each process allocated from 15 to more than 20 Mb of ram. Plus, at every tab creation, the main initial chrome.exe process increase its memory consumption.
With few tabs opened (more than 5) you will be close to 100 Mb of memory consumption.
Try to close one of those chrome.exe process and see main Chrome window. You will see a :( over the tab you have just destroyed.

Nice feature: drag a link just out of Chrome window or drag it in a new tab.

Note to mention that another side process (service) is executed: googleupdate.exe. You can imagine what it is about. But I was not asked to have it or not. Startup key is in registry at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Also, read the privacy terms at http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en-US/privacy.html

If the games require Java, then you need to be using version 6, update 10 (http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?answer=95697&topic=14687). Which you can download from here (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ea/6u10/6u10rcDownload.jsp#6u10JREs).

I'm using Chrome as my main browser now, I'm really impressed by it. :)

I have to say that I too started to use Chrome on a daily basis.

But we have to read carefully license terms: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2329414,00.asp

Anyhow, consider Chrome was not born to give to the world a nice new tool for free. There are precise reasons why Chrome was introduced and they are all related to the fact that Google needs to know hoe we surf, what we see, what we post, ... things like that. Google toolbar was not enough to catch users habits. It is vital for Google, in the long term, to control part of the always increasing number of users using internet, whatever will be the medium they use to navigate the web. So expect Chrome be present on many different kind of devices from PC to the mobile phones.

Read again http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en-US/privacy.html

Maybe we do not realize immediately, but the browser war is for getting the control of the web (or the most part of it) and not for developing the nicer browser in the world.
