Hi,

Before I release update to my TAB program I would like to ask if 3 or so kind members could please download it, unzip and test on Windows 7 platform ONLY...
(can only test on Vista)

The only thing I need to know is if the program app files "Tab_Player.exe" and "Tab_Editor.exe" (bundled icons) will load and run. ie. do the program windows appear when the program is run. Yes or No.

http://tab.thinbasic.com/tabdemo-58.zip

Thanks in advance,
catventure.

Hi Phil,

I have bad news for you, nothing shows up here on Windows 7.
But what is interesting, it does nothing on Windows XP as well.

Which TB did you used to produce the bundle?

It seems the process quits immediately after lunch.

Thanks Petr,
Whoops. Maybe because I used a special 1.8.6.0 version that Eros made for me to test new stuff... I think that will explain it. I think I jumped the gun on this one :)
Worked Ok on Vista - so I think I will wait now until this beta is officially released by Eros.
Thanks again for your test and your report.

Phil,

I think you used temporary 1.8.6 version I prepared for you to text new RTF_Append features with colors.
Bundle of that version is not 100% safe.
You need to wait new official beta 1.8.6

Ciao
Eros

Hi Eros,
a Windows 7 user reports same problem existing in bundled 1.8.6.0 version of TAB.
Could it be it is not fixed yet or might be in later update?

Thanks,
Phil.

Hi Eros, Apparently under windows 7 the latest TAB editor or player .exe files does not work - the opening program windows does not appear.
I should point out that the script runs OK for me and the bundled version works Ok for me using Vista. I have temporarily disabled the download from the TAB home page.
I will check some more to see if I can work out why. If I cannot solve, I will make a special zip folder containing the latest files so you can download and see on your machine later today...
Thanks for your help.

Phil.

If anyone wants to test/try on XP or Windows 7 (works OK on Vista)

http://tab.thinbasic.com/testtab_58.zip

Please confirm if programs (bundled .exe files) run and load OK.

Thank you,
Phil.

I downloaded your ZIP and executed your EXE and all seems working fine here under Win 7 64bit
Are your Win 7 users acting as Admins of their system or like standard users?
If standard users try to ask them to right click on your EXE and choose "Run as administrator".
See if this makes any difference.

Hi Eros,
Good. :) I am SO GLAD it working on yours - others please let me know too on 7 or XP...
I have sent email to user regarding the AV software - will let you know as soon as get reply.
I will also mention the "Run as Administrator" and see if this has any effect.

I'm happy you confirmed is working and programs load and run. :)

Yes I confirm I executed your original EXE without touching them and here they seems to work as expected.
I've also re-bundled them and tested. Again all seems working fine.

Better to wait more info from your user.

Yes. Will do that.
BTW, still cannot believe that after all this time my project is the ONLY one listed in this "User Projects" forum!?

It shows that you really used thinbasic and still stick to it. Your app shows that you are really dedicated to it. But I hope your app
won't be the one and only that will be displayed here.

"User Projects" was meant to grow on user request.
If no one request to have a dedicated area I will not create anything.

Hi Eros,
Just to let you know that client now emailed report stating success with latest test zip and all working normally. So, panic over :)
This is good news and I can release the update shortly.
Fault may have been due to incorrect bundling operation on my side in original download
The problem is therefore solved. Thanks to you and others for support and testing.

Cheers,
catventure.

Great!

Bundling process is something I will take under my hands during autumn/winter in order to improve its stability and features.
