Hardware accel for OpenGL in VMWare Fusion

    Hi folks,

VMWare Fusion on my IMac supports DirectX9 shader hardware acceleration. but no support for OpenGL right now. I stumbled over GLDirect today. It gives a pretty good performance with thinBasic TBGL and it is freeware now.

    Cheers

Re: Hardware accel for OpenGL in VMWare Fusion

    Hi Mike,

thanks for the news. I am not much experienced with virtual machines, I guess my single core processor is not the right powerbeast for this applications

It is nice creators of GLDirect allow to wrap the OpenGL in hardware accelerated way, and not "just" via software Mesa. They do this job since past century if I am not mistaken

In late time, there were some news VirtualBox enables 3D acceleration via OpenGL, so maybe also the way to go.
Learn 3D graphics with ThinBASIC, learn TBGL!

Yes, VirtualBox has now experimental support for OpenGL and it is VERY fast. But no DirectX support. :-\
