Sharepoint on server 2003

I suspect this is something that Eros can help with.

I am working on the sharepoint server at work via VPN from home and this is my first time working with sharepoint, I dont see how to assign an image to the main site page it askes for a web address but I dont see where its storing the pages to know where to put the images.

I add a web part for the image but how do work out the address?? \\webserver\images\pic.gif ???

I have to go to party but I will provide more information later

I'm sorry Michael but have no experience with Sharepoint.
In the company I work for we prefer to develop client/server applications avoiding web applications (for the moment )
