    New Windows next year ?

    Hi,

I found this by accident, does not seems to be Aprils Fool joke :

Gates: Windows 7 may come 'in the next year'

Well, in fact that article did not give any specific information... I wonder why they would hurry so much with new Windows?
My last period between switching OS was 6 years long ( ME -> XP ), MS is going too fast on me and XPs are so nice

But fact is I did not find any more info on this topic on Microsoft website, anyone knows more?

    Thanks,
    Petr

As long as I'm not forced because XP is not working anymore, I'm staying with XP.

    Me too,

I have them for 9 months now, so no point in upgrading
They are so good comparing to my long experience with WinME I will hardly change them soon

I just wonder what they could add / change, since they are just Service Packing Vistas ??
The message about new Win looked almost like hoax to me.

    Well,

they did so much money with Vista (you remember: all PC was/are forced to be sold with Vista included).
    They liked the game.
They will try to do it again.

Eros, I thought that all the computer manufactures turn round to MS and said "forget it, we prefer XP" so MS backed down which is why I can still buy new computers with XP pro or vista machine which has a free "down grade" to XP.

Yes, that's true but only to not have too much claims from customers and only because MS admitted that Vista had many drivers problems/incompatible.
Latest HP business PC laptop (and others) come out with both Vista and XP and you can choose which one to install.

Re: New Windows next year ?

Thats interesting, I have avoided the Vista/XP machines but that may make me rethink. I research the spec and price for the computers we supply to customers at my workplace so If I get to choose what to install thats a bonus in my eyes.

Do you know if you choose to install Xp then decide to change it to Vista after sometime whether it will let you?

I suppose they supply 2 product keys, 1 XP, 1 Vista so there is no reason it wouldnt work.

Re: New Windows next year ?

When I got my computer it came with XP, but Vista was possible, but if I changed my mind, I could not go back to XP from the way I understood it.

The tech vidcasts I watch over and over have said how long time Microsoft Fan boy types are switching back from Vista to XP. I think the quicker MS can put Vista out of the spotlight the better for them. Windows 7, just has a friendly feel to it, like the real Windows, I thought clever naming. I thought Vista was a terrible product name and I guess the name matches the product
