    FreeBasic - EBasic

I got an email from Paul that there is a new ebasic update out. Except for the version I bought awhile back, I have not done anything with it and am a few revisions behind.

Has anyone played with the current ebasic and can compare it with freebasic, just thoughts about real world use not really a detailed feature by feature compare as I can do that. THanks.

Hi zlatko, welcome to the forum.

I don't know if you already knew this but FreeBASIC is supposed to be an improved version of QBASIC.

If you're looking for an editor for FreeBASIC I suggest using FBIde.

The editor I use for my FreeBasic experiment is FBEdit.
You can find it here: http://www.radasm.com/fbedit/
And it seems very frequently updated (very important aspect for me).

In the same web site you can also find many free controls many writen in ASM

    Ok.

Regarding EBasic, well I think all Paul's products were very clever and valid.
I just have personal bad "feelings" with him and the way he conduct his business.
But this have nothing to do with his products that remain valid from a tech point of view.

    Yes you 100% right
All products are good but no big
    diference for example between CBasic
and EBasic .(EBasic got weird aproach)
Aurora is good but complicated for beginers
    but very powerful.
I think that is no good like payed forum.
    bye

    Re: FreeBasic - EBasic

I will keep my eye on freebasic as I know Eros and Charles both like it and I respect their views deeply. I have nothing against Paul. He is a very smart and gifted individual who puts out very neat products. I think life just dealt him a tough path and he does remarkably well with all the pressure he is under. The fact that he can put out so many products and each is really something says something about his incredible talents.

I know when I hit a wall of frustration when Visual Basic 6 came out, and wanted to find something to grab on to ibasic came to the rescue and gave me great pleasure. I was really looking forward for ibasic pro and all that was planned for it. Then the black hole of strange events happened and I think the community is lucky that ebasic and cbasic as well as Aurora came out.

Aurora is really neat, i was getting into it when the pressure for something to help the ibasic world brought about ebasic and cbasic. Aurora development obviously slowed down. But I can see how ebasic should be prioritized as it does fit a very nice niche and offers a nice solution. I know Paul is really passionate about Aurora and that over time it will be a really nice solution against c++.

In the meantime, Freebasic seems like a great idea and the path the team there has chosen seems really intriguing.

I think the indie language development field is flourishing as things get more complex, I expect with more devices capable of being programmed we will see this trend grow.
