in this link Petr demonstrated how to do it.
if you want an easy resource hacker use icoFX from http://www.icofx.ro/
from the menu Tools-> resource editor, then open decrypted exe file as explained in that article, delete its icon, add another icon and save.
i have tried it now and it is successful

Here is TB script that will replace the current icon but the replacement icon can only be 32 x 32 and 16 colours, 1 BPP.

It shows a window with the information about the icon loaded.

hello michael clease, although I have chosen right icon size your example don't work for me, tried several times. I am getting error message my icon doesn't fit into wished size, I take a) 16x16x8 and b) 32x32x16 format. nothing happened. bye, largo

Just remembered that the icon must be 1 bpp so whatever program you use to edit just merge all layers into 1 layer and save.

    try the icon supplied.

michael, thanks. oh, my mistake: 16 colors = 4 bpp (!) not 8 bpp (my picture software didn't show me such function properly) so I did unfortunately. thanks, all ok here. do you think it's possible for future times to change other icon formats? would be good. bye, largo
