    Coding Monkeys Gone?

Guys, I just went to read up on Coding Monkeys and the site is gone. Does anyone know what happened?

Yes, I too was checking it.
I can see an ad image of a nice girl but Petr is using the site normally so I think it can be a temporary DNS problem of some DNS server.

    Wait and see ...

Searching WHOIS it seems domain has expired on:

    Expiration date: 14 Jan 2010 04:14:00
So ... maybe someone didn't pay the bill on time.

Thanks for the whois link Eros. That is fun to look up websites!

    Ouch,

I hope it is temporary. But hey, that's life. If it was a money problem then I would be surprised as his site stated that he got some donations to run it.
Have to find his email addy and ask him.

It's a shame to see so many Basic projects and sites throwing in the towel.

ScriptBasic is in autopilot mode as I don't have the time anymore to manage the project myself. Open source projects fail when no one contributes and everyone expects one person to carry the torch.

thinBASIC is different because Eros has chosen to keep the core source closed and it's most likely a labor of love.

    Re: Coding Monkeys Gone?

    Good morning guys,

it seems from my country the CodingMonkeys are still accessible, I just posted on their forum about the accessibility problem from different states.
From here "tracert www.codingmonkeys.com" returns 16 paths at least.

The site donation-o-meter indicates there is more than required to pay the bills.
In any case I do not think it would mean CM disappearing without any word of good bye.
Maybe BS just simply forgot to pay the bill as Eros said.

If somebody has contact to BlueSteel maybe he could consider dropping him a mail.

Maybe he just renewed(reactivated) the URL and all DNS servers haven't been updated around the world yet. That would make the most sense why your able to access the site and others aren't. If one is in a hurry, you could away reboot or flush your DNS cache to see if your root DNS server is seeing it yet.

    Re: Coding Monkeys Gone?

It seems I can connect to CM from work but not from home.
I think someone forgot to renew, maybe he is renewing but in the meantime all DNS are acting in different way due to expiration.

I think/hope Cameron will recover the situation.
